A poster titled, "Configurable system for Laparoscopy" co-authored by Kanav Kahol, Marshall Smith MD and Sethuraman Panchanathan got selected as one of the best posters in the conferences titled, "Medicine Meets Virtual Reality 14" which was held in Long Beach California from Feb 6th to Feb 9th 2007. This is second year in a row!!!!!
Awarded $40,000 from Arizona State University for Haptics Research.
My course on haptic user interfaces got a rating of 4.82/5 for instructor and 4.81/5 for the entire course.

A Poster titled, " Gesture Based Hand Movement Analysis and Haptic Feedback for Surgical Training", co-authored by myself Kanav Kahol, Dr. Mark Smith from Banner, Priyamvada Tripathi, Dr. John Ferrara from Banner, Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan and Dr. Alan Leibowitz from Banner got selected as one of the best posters in the conferences titled, "Medicine Meets Virtual Reality 14" which was held in Long Beach California from Jan 24th to Jan 27th 2006.
Just got funded for the NSF Proposal titled "SGER: Incorporation of Psychological Basis of Haptics in the Design of Assistive Haptic User Interfaces" NSF Award 0554698. It is a humbling experience and I feel great and want to make the most of this opportunity.
Let the final onslaught begin! Getting ready for my thesis defense.

Brief Biography
Dr Kahol is currently a Assistant Research Professor as a joint appointment between Center for Cognitive Ubiquitous Computing, Arizona State University and Simulation and Training Center (SimET Center) at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. His research interests revolve around haptic user interfaces for assistance, rehabilitation and learning. He is currently involved in projects centered around haptic assistive devices, surgical simulation and training and rehabilitation. Dr. Kahol's focus on human computer interfaces, cognitive psychology and neurology defines the projects and research he is involved in.
Dr. Kanav Kahol completed his PhD from Arizona State University in 2006. His dissertation was titled, "Distal Object perception through haptic user interfaces".
Dr. Kahol completed his masters of science in computer science in 2003 from Arizona State Universiy. His thesis was titled, "Gesture segmentation in complex motion sequences". He completed his bachelors from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College , Ludhiana in 2001.
